my father tenderly cares
for the ailing bird

NOTES

This is a dreamku [haiku-like dream poem, not always in strict haiku form]. If you're curious about trying dreamku I've written A Dreamku Primer.

The dream this poem is based on was a watershed one. It was years after my father's death before I had a neutral-toned, much less positive dream involving him. We'd had a rather conflicted relationship, shall I say, when he was alive. Fortunately, I was given the grace to work through a lot of it inside myself over the years.
