I HELD THE SUN ROSE

Digital picture that provoked a dream 1989/6/19, reworked 1994, by Chris Wayan.

This started as an experiment in technique. I'd set up my paint program to make new colors spread from the hearts of old, forming concentric contours like a topo map. Then I drew a plain gray silhouette: a goddess checking a protostar in the void. Swept my mouse across her, and she BLOOMED! Roses erupted...

When it was done, I dreamed I was chasing stars with a long-tailed friend, and in the end we caught the Sun.
