Tiger

Dreamed 2023/4/21 by Andrea McFarland

I dream a beautiful tiger comes to the sliding glass door in the middle of the night.

At first I’m frightened of her, and try to make sure the door is well locked, but the latch is broken. The tiger pushes the door open. I am wary, but I sense she isn’t really hunting me, she just wants to come in from the cold. I let her follow me into the living room.

I sit on the couch, nervous, but she stretches out on the rug with her head next to my knee. I begin to stroke her head, it is incredibly soft. She silently nuzzles her head against my knee, and I see the colors and patterns of her black and orange fur are beautiful.

Some other people come into the room and are panicking about the tiger. They want to call 911 for the police and fire department etc., but I don’t want them to because I’m afraid the police will shoot and kill her.

I want to look up the phone number for a zookeeper or a tiger trainer, because she is not completely wild. She is patiently awaiting a meal of chickens, or whatever else her keepers would feed her.

I know she can be dangerous, especially if someone attacks or hurts her, but already I feel a bond with her. I don’t want to own her, but to protect her.
