TWO DRUNKS
(long) after Hokusai

Pencil drawing 1994 of a daydream, tinted 2001, by Chris Wayan

Just a sketch of two fairy friends who shouldn't be flying tonight. Sound dream advice: "If you fly, don't drink, if you drink, don't fly."

Fairy and crane up late, not to mention up a tree--drunk and so wobbly one has to hold her friend up. Motto: 'Long after Hokusai'. Click to enlarge.
Why's it say "Long after Hokusai" in the bottom? Well, this drawing was a vague sort tribute to Hokusai's weirder drawings. It wasn't all views of Fuji. The old man, despite a talent for monumental simplification, was also the maddest cartoonist in his century. Maybe ever.
