Crocodile Dream

Dreamed 2015/10/5 by Patagia

I dream a line
Of crocodilians
Emerge from a slime lily-pad swamp

Mighty jaws held agape
Sly, silent, they watch and wait
Calmly they wait for unlucky prey

Closer I edge to admire their scales
The glint of their teeth
And shape of their tails

They cast a strong spell
I forget the advice:
Beware crocs with ticking clocks

Peter Pan I know would hold me back
Tink would flash her wings and glow
For the life of me though... ahead I go

And suddenly
Wham!
Everything goes black

Written as a dream-poetry exercise at OWL [Older Writers Laboratory, San Francisco] with Chris Wayan as guest facilitator
