Hockey

Dreamed by Jim Shaw, c.1994.

...I had to stay up all night & the next day play an Olympic hockey game. One of the women players on the other side of the stadium was wearing a string bikini & wondering whether she was sexy as she bent forward & shook her breasts.

I got an erection.

Woman wonders if she's sexy, so she strips to bikini at an ice hockey game. Dream sketch by Jim Shaw. Click to enlarge.

EDITOR'S NOTE

In the 450 dreams of Shaw's published journal, very few show the thoughts of someone else. But here he knows this isn't surreal exhibitionism (who strips in an ice rink? brrrrr!), nor an attempt to distract a player (effective, if unethical), but quite a different thing: a woman worried whether she's attractive or not, who gets a clear answer: to Shaw she is. Despite that bikini, then, she's not a sex object but a subject with her own agenda. Though the dream lacks all trappings of romance, affection or intimacy, this is still sex as communication.
