OZETTE ANGEL
1992; digital (mostly nondream) landscape by Chris Wayan.
Centuries ago, on the Olympic Peninsula west of Seattle, near Lake Ozette, a mudslide buried a whole Makah Indian village. When I was there, the site still felt thick with spirits.
The angel is a seal-spirit, I think. Or part seal. Things fuse up there--you see it in Makah sculpture and paintings.
Oh--the purple lizard in the sleeping bag is me.
