Splash!
triangular acrylic dream-painting, 10" x 11", fall 2002, by Chris Wayan.
Long ago I dreamed I was a reptilian woman a million years from now. My mate and I were archeologists; we dug all over the western coasts, arguing endlessly about the ancient humans and how they died out--or killed each other off. I've told that story, in Artifact.
This is a happier postscript to that bittersweet dream. Because while we dug proof of the ancient tragedy out of the beach-sand, our egg-daughter, splashing in the tidepools, didn't give a damn. Because the waves crash now, and now is sweet.
