SPLIT SEVEN WAYS
A 1992/7/31 digital inner-self-portrait by Chris Wayan
I feel split into warring impulses who argue, advise, ignore, and even snipe at each other. They appear in my dreams as autonomous personalities.
Here are seven of the most common, with their favorite mantras:
- "Do you like me?" (when I don't know if I like YOU)
- "Face what's going on!" (when 'what's going on' is often just drama this side caused)
- "I just don't know..." (when I do, I do, I do.)
- "Don't tell me what I want!"(when I don't know)
- "I aim for the truth" (as she snipes at the others)
- "I'll blindly push on..." (not blind--eyes SHUT! Wasting all my effort)
- "I know how split we are" (and as I practice the splits, I wonder if I practice splitting spiritually too! Multiplicity may mess up my life, but it's great art material. So THAT's all right!)
