Dancing Backwards

Dreamed 2007/5/21 by Roswila [aka Patricia Kelly]
www.roswila-dreamspoetry.blogspot.com

what a kick
they awkwardly practice
the jive step

cranky wallflower
I wander the ballroom
to find a teacher

I already know
the dance the old lady leads
her beaded blue gown

--Roswila

What caught my eye here was that great line "cranky wallflower." I can identify--being one myself.
I also like the puns, not just "what a kick" but the hint, inherent in the dream I think, that "backward" and "jive" might have meaning beyond the dance floor...
