Yellow Crane

Recurring dream by Na Liu, spring 1976

Dream by Liu Na as drawn by Andres Vera Martinez: Wuhan, China, at sunset; two sisters ride a huge yellow crane over a pagoda.
Dream by Liu Na as drawn by Andres Vera Martinez: night over Wuhan, China; two sisters ride a huge yellow crane to their house.

EDITOR'S NOTES

This simple, beautiful recurring dream is from the autobiographical kids' story Little White Duck written by Na Liu and illustrated by her husband Andrés Vera Martínez. The whole book is this gorgeous--fusing Western comics, Chinese brush painting, and the woodcut look of old Maoist posters.
