So here I am in Lawrence, Kansas, the Day After town.

TV commercial:
When your hemorrhoids flare up
Fight fire with TUCK
Soothes on contact.
Suppose we got no soothing tuck
What the fuck?
In any store
What store?
Brothers, your hemorrhoids flare up
Nobody gives a flying fuck
Got more pressing things in mind
Like being stone blind
Blind from the light and the heat
Lucky ones is just charred meat.

EDITOR'S NOTE

Set in Lawrence, Kansas, The Day After (1983) was the most seen & influential TV movie in the 20th century, showing the likely aftermath of a nuclear war. Burroughs's dream blends it with a hemorrhoid ad. Because... under late capitalism, why not?
