Jessica the Mermaid

Dreamed mid-1977 by Jessica

In 1977, Elyse Jacobs got a California Arts Council grant to do dream workshops in San Francisco for children aged 5-12. Participants told their dreams, drew their dream characters, cut and mounted the drawings to make puppets, and performed the dreams. Sometimes one dream inspired others' dreams.

Jessica's Dream
about James's Trickster:

I dreamed James' trickster was chasing me
and I ran away.

I came to the Golden Gate Bridge and I
jumped off.

I didn't drown. I changed into a mermaid
and married James' trickster.

(A dream of transformation,
befriending/integrating the trickster
aspect of herself.)
